Episode 20 Mom Guilt and how to get rid of it!

Hello Mamas and welcome to today’s episode of The Fulfilled Mama podcast. This is Rachael and I’m hopping on today before you with a topic near and dear to my heart – Mom Guilt.  Recently, I had an interaction with some moms and I clearly understood that many moms struggle with Mom Guilt. As a mom of 6, I have my mom guilt because it’s hard to be a mom to all of them all the time and give them all the love and attention they need.

Many moms feel guilty for yelling at their kids, for not giving them the time they deserve, for not feeding them with healthy foods because they’re too busy to make a meal and I know one mom said that she feels guilty because they don’t sit at the family table for dinners. I want you all to realize that all moms feel guilty from time to time; every single mom all over the world feels it. When we make them entertain themselves, and when we tell them when they’re hungry go grab a snack from the pantry, we’re teaching them to take care of themselves, to entertain themselves and to be self-sufficient to not need us all of the time. That is a valuable lesson we are teaching them and we shouldn’t feel guilty about it. Instead of feeling guilt, patch yourself on the back because you are doing them a great service.

When you have a complete meltdown with your kids or just flipped out and yelled at them, don’t feel guilty for it. You can come back from it and tell them you’re sorry and you can do better next time. You can teach them that you make mistakes; everybody makes mistakes and tell them that you’re going to work really hard to do better next time. You can’t change the past, but you can change it going forward and you can still have that amazing relationship with your kids.
